Visit South Padre Island Executive Director Blake Henry Announces Departure After Three Years of Tra

 

 

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas, September 26, 2025 – The City of South Padre Island today announced that Blake Henry, Executive Director of Visit South Padre Island, will be departing his role after more than three years of transformative leadership that elevated the Island’s profile as a nationally recognized tourism destination. Henry is leaving to assume the role of Chief Operating Officer for New York City’s Theatre Projects, the oldest continually operating theatre, arts, and culture architectural design and planning consultancy in the world.

 

During Henry’s tenure, South Padre Island experienced record-breaking success across all measures of the tourism economy: 

 

Under Henry’s direction, the Visit South Padre Island team also led the convention center expansion and theater project and elevated destination brand awareness through a new agency of record, Greenhaus, and subcontractors KJB Collective (social media) and The Coulter Group (public relations). Henry’s leadership brought international acclaim to the Island, with his team earning Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Award for Best U.S. Islands, multiple ConventionSouth honors, and many other industry recognitions for overall team excellence.

The City of South Padre Island will retain a national executive search firm to identify the next leader of Visit South Padre Island.
