Arts Administrator
Visit Pearland is the official destination marketing organization for the City of Pearland with a primary focus of promoting and marketing the City as a destination to attract visitors. Visit Pearland recently led the development of the City's first Cultural Arts Master Plan and is a lead agency in its implementation. The Arts Administrator position is called for in the cultural plan to build greater capacity, leadership and connection for Pearland's Arts & Culture.
The Arts Administrator will manage the existing arts programming at Visit Pearland and help develop new and expanded programs in alignment with the cultural plan. This position will work alongside Visit Pearland staff, who have been an integral part of existing arts programs, such as the Pear-Scape Trail public art program, arts, and cultural events, and the cultural arts grant program.
Responsibilities
The Arts Administrator position will encompass the following responsibilities:
Serving as the lead staff person for the City's cultural arts programs and investments, under the direction of the Visit Pearland Executive Director.
Plan and curate arts and cultural events and programs intended to increase cultural tourism in the city. Oversee sponsorship and grant-funded requirements for arts and cultural events supported by Visit Pearland.
Oversee implementation of the City's public art program, including the PearScape Program, utility box program, and new public art initiatives arising from the recommendations in the Cultural Arts Master Plan.
Oversight of public art may include engaging a contractor with specific public art qualifications to manage that program.
Manage the cultural arts grants sponsorship program administration.
Assist with the Visit Pearland marketing efforts for arts and culture as needed.
Interface with the community's arts and culture community.
Liaise with other City departments to support coordination of efforts in the cultural arts.
Participate in professional development opportunities related to the responsibilities of this position.
Other responsibilities assigned by the Executive Director and/or related to implementation of the Cultural Arts Master Plan.
