Under the general supervision of the Dripping Springs Tourism Manager, the Dripping Springs Tourism Marketing Coordinator leads the marketing and communications efforts for Destination Dripping Springs, Tourism Department and Visitors Center for the City of Dripping Springs. The Tourism Marketing Coordinator is responsible for digital content creation, coordinating all aspects of the organization’s Social Media presence, newsletters, and assisting with special events. 

B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.   Working with People and Communications Director and Tourism Manager, coordinates and implements the marketing of Dripping Springs as a tourist destination.

2. Working with People and Communications Director and Tourism Manager, coordinates all creative message development, design/printing of tourism marketing materials and digital advertising. 

3. Working with People and Communications Director and Tourism Manager, coordinates   all DSVB social media channels, and creates positive content that educates, informs, entertains, and inspires. Uses content marketing strategies to attract, engage, and retain an audience by creating and sharing relevant information, articles, videos, podcasts, blogs, infographics, and other media to establish expertise and promote brand awareness.

4. Coordinates and updates Destination Dripping Springs website.

5. Develops and fosters relationships with tourism stakeholders in support of overall marketing strategies. Works with community partners to create and develop tourism opportunities. 

6. Copy writes and edits for monthly blog program with keyword optimization to complement SEO strategy. Tracks metrics to measure the effectiveness of SEO strategy and tactics.

7. Creates monthly email newsletters. Leads email nurture programs and drip campaigns.

8. Working with People and Communications Director and Tourism Manager, prepares press releases, press kits, builds campaigns and stories for unique selling points.

9. Assists in the coordination and implementation of logistics and operations for events and festivals, including but not limited to: the Dripping Springs Songwriters Festival, an annual festival that draws 3k+ people, 35-50 songwriters from around the US and world over 3 days; the Wedding Capital of Texas Showcase® & Tour Day, that connects wedding industry professionals with engaged couples.

10. Monitors and coordinates the work of temporary employees, contractors, volunteers, and student interns. 

11. Maintains continuous contact with vendors such as photographers, printers, and others used by the City in the development and distribution of printed materials and other communication tools as it relates to tourism.

12. Works in partnership with City of Dripping Springs Marketing Coordinator on joint promotions and marketing.

13. Exercises discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters related to communications and media responses.

14. Works non-traditional work hours for presence at various special events and City meetings. 

15. Deals tactfully and courteously with the public.

16. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, officials, volunteers, media, and the public.

17. Travels to various destinations in and out of the City.

18. Performs other tasks as assigned.

C. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS

1. Requires a High School Diploma and Bachelor’s degree.  Degree in marketing, advertising, communications, public relations, business administration and/or similar degree preferred. 

2. Minimum of 2 years of marketing communications experience. 

3. Proven results in implementing strategic marketing and communications plans.

4. Proven results in managing social media platforms (Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, etc.), and analytics technologies. Proven positive experience on all social media platforms.
 
5. Proficient in Microsoft Office e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook. Other graphic programs such as Illustrator, InDesign, and Canva is preferred. Knowledge of Constant Contact or email marketing platforms helpful.

6. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

7. Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills. 

8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, City Officials, media, and general public.

9. Typing, filing, sorting, posting of documents.

D. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Personal computer, including Microsoft Office; email; phone; printer; copy machine; and general office equipment.

E. OTHER REQUIREMENTS

1. Valid Texas Driver’s License, good driving record (required), dependable transportation.

2. Ability to conduct detailed and complex instructions; ability to interact with coworkers and public by telephone and in person as a member of a team to provide services to customers, both external and internal; ability to perform a variety of duties and to prioritize tasks to meet organizational needs. 

3. Ability to exchange ideas, facts and/or technical information and guidance clearly and concisely in person, by telephone, email, or correspondence.  

4. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, hear, use hands; and reach with hands and arms. 

5. The employee is occasionally required to move around city offices and various locations throughout the City and nearby areas.
