Galveston Island Named Host City for Go West Summit 2027
GALVESTON ISLAND, TEXAS (April 3, 2026) — Galveston Island has been selected as the official host city for the Go West Summit in 2027, marking a significant milestone for the region’s tourism industry and local economy. The annual event, which brings travel industry leaders, will take place Feb. 27 – March 3 and is expected to bring over 500 attendees, representing 27 U.S. states, Canadian provinces and 31 countries.
The Go West Summit is organized by the International Tourism Marketing, Inc (ITM), an inbound, international tourism destination marketing organization representing various public and private sector tourism associations and companies. The summit is a business-to-business tourism event with attendees, destination representatives and travel operators, where an estimated 8,700 appointments were conducted in 2026.
“Go West matches international businesses with their perfect destination, and next year, they will be in Galveston experiencing all the island has to offer. That is a huge win for Galveston,” Visit Galveston Executive Director Tony Lyle said. “Bringing Go West to the island allows us to highlight everything that makes Galveston special—from our rich history and vibrant culture to our beaches and hospitality industry—while creating lasting benefits for our community.”
The 2027 Go West Summit is expected to deliver strong economic benefits to Galveston Island, including increased occupancy for hotels and short-term rentals, higher foot traffic for local businesses, and expanded opportunities for workforce engagement. Restaurants, retail shops, tour operators, and cultural institutions are all poised to benefit from the influx of visitors.
