Sign up today and learn more about the media production industries of Texas and how to achieve the Film Friendly Texas certification for your community! Online registration is open for the next Film Friendly Texas workshop, to be held on Thursday, November 12, 2026 in the City of Austin.

The Texas Film Commission's Film Friendly Texas (FFTX) program provides ongoing training and guidance to statewide community leaders on how to prepare their communities to understand the opportunities, and embrace the economic benefits, of media production.

The fee for attending this workshop is $45.00 (per person) plus fees and tax. This includes breakfast and light refreshments. Hotel room blocks are available.

The target audience for this workshop is community representatives affiliated with local government organizations who will serve as the community’s point-of-contact for facilitating media production requests. Most communities choose a member of their city government, Convention and Visitors Bureau, Chamber of Commerce or Economic Development Corporation to attend. Please note that workshop attendance by a community’s designated liaison is a requirement of certification, even if your community has already been Film Friendly Texas certified. Additional representatives from your community are also welcome to attend.

This workshop will provide presentations from Texas Film Commission staff addressing topics such as:

  • How to become Film Friendly Texas Certified.
  • Media production as an economic development opportunity for your community.
  • What to expect when working with different types of media productions.
  • How to create filming guidelines and permit systems for your community.
  • How to take and submit photos of potential filming locations in your community.
  • Understanding location agreements, production insurance and other documents.

Registrations close on Friday, November 6, 2026. The Workshop will begin Thursday, November 12, 2026 at 9:00AM Central Time and conclude by 4:00PM Central Time with a break for lunch. The Workshop location will be delivered to registered attendees closer to the date of the event.
